Hello
I’m Karen Diffey
I’m a Certified Funeral Celebrant
living near Chirk in North Wales.
A little background about me.
My journey into celebrancy was a deeply personal one — having experienced the loss of family and friends, I truly appreciate the significance of a well-crafted ceremony in celebrating a life. This has shaped my approach, inspiring me to create meaningful and personal tributes. I now have the great privilege of helping families craft heartfelt farewells for their loved ones.
Every life is unique, and I believe every ceremony should reflect that. I take the time to listen, to understand the essence of the person being remembered, and to weave their story into a bespoke service. With compassion and care, I help families structure the ceremony, write heartfelt eulogies, and find the right words to capture the love, laughter, and moments that made their loved one special.
Away from my work as a Celebrant, I find peace in the great outdoors, whether it’s walking in the hills with my dog, spending time on my smallholding with my animals or simply taking in the ever-changing landscape. I also love a good book, listening to music and spending time with family and friends — because, at the heart of everything, it’s our connections with others that truly matter.
Why I might be the right Celebrant for you.
I understand how important it is to honour a person’s life with warmth, dignity, and sincerity, creating a ceremony that truly reflects their unique story. Losing someone we love is never easy, and in those moments, having the right words and the right support can make all the difference.
Becoming a Funeral Celebrant felt like a natural calling — one where I could offer my listening ear, compassion, and support to families during such a difficult time. I take the time to listen, to understand, and to craft a farewell that is both meaningful and personal. With compassion and care, I will guide you through this journey, helping to create a ceremony that feels right for you — a fitting tribute filled with love, remembrance, and respect.
Whether you’re looking for something traditional, contemporary, or deeply personal, I will work with you to craft a ceremony that truly honours your loved one.
How I approach Ceremonies.
My approach to funeral ceremonies is warm, calm, and reassuring, offering support at what can be an incredibly difficult time. I see my role as so much more than simply leading a ceremony — I am there to listen, to guide, and to bring comfort through carefully chosen words that honour, celebrate, and remember. It’s all about making the day feel personal, meaningful, and, when possible, a little lighter — because even in grief, there’s space for love, laughter, and remembering the good times.
Every ceremony I create is a fitting tribute, thoughtfully crafted to reflect the life that was lived. You can count on me to be there with you every step of the way, offering a warm, understanding hand when you need it most.
I am happy to lead non-religious funerals or incorporate religious elements such as prayers, hymns, and readings, ensuring the service feels personal and meaningful. Alongside funeral ceremonies, I also lead memorial services, as well as ash scatterings and interments, offering a reassuring and compassionate presence as families say their farewells. I also support those who wish to plan their own funeral, ensuring their wishes are honoured with care and dignity.
